Muslim Followers of Jesus? continued

Following Jesus from The Global Conversation on Vimeo.

Is it possible to find salvation in Jesus Christ and also be a faithful Muslim?”

This is easily the hottest topic in global missiology right now.

Muslims comprise 1/4 of the world’s population and are perhaps the most resistant religious group to the gospel.  So in talking about our unfinished mission of making disciples of all nations, this topic was bound to come up at some point.  Unfortunately, most of the conversation is very emotional and uncivil with shallow thinking on the subject itself.  Just see these responses.

This is a continuation of my previous post Muslim Followers of Jesus? Lausanne Global Conversation.  The brief articles included in the conversation are:

  • Joseph Cumming (Main Article) - Muslim Followers of Jesus?
  • Martin Accad - Away with Sterile Debates!
  • John Azumah - The Main Question is Identity
  • Mazhar Mallouhi - A Muslim Follower of Jesus
  • John Travis - God is Doing Something New

    1. Are these men following the Jesus of the Bible, as He defines himself? The son of God and the third person in the Trinity? Or is he the Isa as defined in the injeel which is blasphemy? This is the heart of the matter ~as it is with the Mormons, the Jehovah Witnesses, and so many more who follow heresy.

    2. Sounds like "easy believism" for Muslims. One of the men said, "I know that not all Muslims believe these things but I do..." Who can take a man like this seriously?

I also wonder if these men were prepped, primed, and paid by Westerners who are promoting this syncretism.

If these men are "believers" then they are eerily similar to the Jews who "believed" in Jesus prior to His death, resurrection, ascension, and pouring out of His Spirit on Pentecost:

      John 7:13
But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the Jews.

      John 9:22
His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for already the Jews had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ would be put out of the synagogue.

      John 19:38
Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews.

    4. Paul, It is not the testimony that makes a man a heretic but his professed beliefs. His theology. If you change and redefine who Jesus is to create a smooth conversation then you are a heretic. No redefining Jesus. That's off limits.
